WHO WE ARE:
A group of local people with a shared interest in local history We draw members from Hope, Aston and the surrounding villages.
WHAT WE DO.
Meetings We meet at the Methodist Church Hall from September to April, on the second Tuesday in the month, at 7.30pm. Our programme includes a series of talks during the winter on a wide variety of topics. We go on outings in the summer and hold a variety of social events.
Visits To local places of historic interest .
Research A group meet regularly to explore the history of Hope. We hold an annual exhibition in St Peter’s Church during Hope Wakes Week.
Archives The Society holds an extensive collection of Archives some of which are available digitally
Publications “Discover Hope” – an illustrated guide. “Re-Discovering Hope” – research reports. “Hope with Aston Parish Council 1895-1995”. The reports from the 2012 HLF funded Joint Hope with Castleton “Lives of the Common People Project”
